Sakesar Khushab

Sakesar is a mountain peak which lies on the outer fringes of the Soon Valley in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. It has an height of 4,992 feet or 1600 metres and used to be the summer headquarters for the deputy commissioners of   three districts - Campbellpur (now Attock), Mianwali and Sargodha. In view of Sakesar's ideal location and height, the PAF selected it in the late-50s as the site for a high powered radar which would provide air defence cover for the northeastern part of the western wing[1]. The hilltop of Sakesar is located in the Salt Range - starting from Sohawa (in Jhelum District) in the east and spreading westward. Wildlife around Sakesar includes the occasional Leopard, Wolf, Jackal, Fox, Wild Cat, Urial, Chinkara, Wild Boar, Partridges, the occasional eagle and numerous smaller passerines such as Sparrows, Larks, Finches, Chats etc

Labour Day in Pakistan

Pakistan ’s first labor policy was devised in 1972, in which May 1 was declared an official holiday. This policy also formulated the creation of the Social Security Network, Old Age Benefit Schemes and Workers Welfare Fund. Pakistan’s constitution also contains various provisions and articles about labor rights. It is important to note that Pakistan became a member of the International Labour Organization (ILO) right after its independence in 1947. The ILO is a United Nations (UN) specialized agency that promotes social justice and universally acknowledged human and social rights. Pakistan has ratified 36 ILO conventions of which eight are core conventions. Labor Day is a public holiday in Pakistan on May 1. All government and non-government organizations, factories and educational institutions remain closed. Laborers may willingly work on Labor Day, with or without payment of higher than normal wages.

The institution is located on Khushab–Sakaser road at Khurra villege in the vicinity of Naushera town in a semi mountainous terrain in Salt Range at a height of 3000 feet from sea level in the heart of a scenic and cool valley of Pakistan namely Soon Sakaser. Distances from Balkasar and Kallar Kahar Motorway (M-2) Interchanges are 80kms and 65kms respectively. Distance from Khushab is 40kms and distance from Sargodha via Khushab is 80kms.

Olive cultivation to be promoted in country

A plan has been prepared to promote cultivation of olive in the country and Azad Kashmir. Official sources told Business Recorder on Saturday that overall demand of olive oil was 1.9 million tons, of which 1.3 million tons was being imported from different countries to cater to the domestic requirements, costing Rs 28 billion annually. Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) had focused special attention on the promotion of olive cultivation and necessary information and guidance was being extended to olive growers in Balochistan.

plots distribution in Jinnah colonies in district khushab

  The homeless being fleeced in Khushab  The assistant commissioners are distributing forms to allot plots among the homeless in all the three tehsils of Khushab districts. Long queues of applicants were seen before the offices. On the directions of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, these forms are being supplied free of cost. However, stamp vendors and photocopy machine owners are charging a heavy amount from the applicants for the purpose. According to the officials, as many as 10,000 forms have been distributed for 8,000 plots in the proposed Jinnah colonies across the district .
